Manchester United believe Inter’s latest offer to pay less than half Alexis Sanchez’s wages this season is ‘unacceptable’, according to BBC Sport.
The Nerazzurri were hoping to find out whether they had a chance of signing the forward on loan by the middle of this week.
But Sanchez’s mouth-watering £390,000-per-week salary (€427,000) is proving to be ‘problematic’ during the clubs’ negotiations.
Simon Stone reported last night: “Sanchez is looking to link up again with his friend and former United striker Romelu Lukaku, but he is thought to be loath to accept the kind of significant wage cut that would make the move easier to complete.
“If Inter fail to significantly increase their figure by the time the European transfer deadline closes on 2 September, Sanchez will remain at Old Trafford until at least January.”
Sanchez has endured a disastrous 18 months at Old Trafford since joining United from Arsenal, scoring five goals in 45 appearances.
He scored more goals for Chile at this summer’s Copa America (2) than he did in the Premier League last season (1).
