Inter Defender Alessandro Bastoni Set To Start Over Diego Godin Tomorrow

Inter coach Antonio Conte is deciding whether to start Alessandro Bastoni and Lautaro Martinez in tomorrow’s game against Sassuolo, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the 50-year-old Italian coach is debating starting 20-year-old Italian defender Alessandro Bastoni over 33-year-old former Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin, due to wish to play the Uruguayan in next week’s Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund.

Furthermore, Conte is thinking about starting 22-year-old Argentinian striker Lautaro Martinez over Matteo Politano up front, partnering with former Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku.

The injury to 30-year-old Alexis Sanchez, as well as the short rest period in between the two games, forces Conte to rotate the squad in order to keep the squad fresh and healthy. Roberto Gagliardini will come in for the injured Stefano Sensi, with Antonio Candreva returning to the right side of the pitch.
