Architects Suggest Ways Which Inter & AC Milan’s San Siro Could Be Re-Purposed When They Leave For New Stadium

In today’s paper edition of Corriere della Sera, four architects have shared what they would like to see happen to San Siro if it does not get demolished.

Inter and AC Milan have made their intentions clear that they wish to build a new stadium to replace the historic San Siro but it remains to be seen what will happen to San Siro.

Initially it seemed like it would be completely demolished but support appears to be growing for it to be re-purposed with there certainly being no shortage of ideas for what it could become.

Mario Cucinella has suggested that the stadium is turned into a museum for contemporary art and also includes commercial areas – something both clubs want to have as part of their new stadium project to ensure that their is life around the stadium even when its not matchday, unlike in the present.

Fabio Novembre has suggested making it a museum dedicated to the footballing world. Cino Zucchi would meanwhile like to see it re-purposed into a winter garden, with areas dedicated to play and leisure, particularly for children. Ottavio Di Biasi would like to see it remain as a stadium that could be used for various events
