Milanese Council To Decide If Inter & AC Milan’s San Siro Stadium Has Cultural & Historical Value

As the owners, the Milan city council are to conduct a full investigation into whether there is a cultural and historical value to San Siro, something which could well have ramifications for Inter and AC Milan’s plans to build a new stadium in its place according to a report in today’s paper edition of Corriere della Sera.

Both of the clubs, who presented their grand plans for the new state-of-the-art stadium last month, have been clear they want a new stadium and that part of their project would involve San Siro being demolished but should the council decide there is a cultural and historical value, the two clubs will be forced to re-think their project.

The report from the Milanese based newspaper goes on to explain that the investigation process will take a few months to complete.

San Siro has been around for almost 100 years now. AC Milan first moved in in 1926 before Inter joined them shortly after the conclusion of the second world war. The stadium has had two renovations since opening, most recently ahead of the 1990 World Cup which was held in Italy.
