Inter Defender Skriniar: “I Didn’t Think I’d Become A Defender Of This Calibre, Godin Has Great Experience”

Milan Skriniar has spoken on the growth he has made whilst playing in Italy and whether he expected to become as good as he has.

“I arrived in Italy four years ago, I played little, I thought I would go on loan then my career turned out how it has: thanks to the coaches who gave me confidence and the teammates who helped me improve,” he said in an interview with the official match-day programme for tonight’s match.

“If I thought I would become a defender of this calibre? Maybe not: for sure now I know that I have to perform with consistency. Many expect me to win every challenge but I must remain myself, I know that I must always keep my performances to the highest level.”

He then spoke on new Inter defender Diego Godin: “Diego Godin has great experience, he has won many trophies, he is very strong. But, above all, he is a splendid person: he, like others, helps you grow and improve.”

He concluded by sharing one of his favourite memories from his time with the club.

“Inter-Tottenham last year, my first Champions League match. I remember everything about it from the stadium to the colour to the sounds and of course the music, which is unmistakable and beautiful, it really gives you something more.”
