Champions League Progression & Gabigol Sale Could Help Inter Land Arturo Vidal

Inter manager Antonio Conte is keen to have Inter progress in the Champions League due to the fact it could lead to him getting a January transfer window gift from Inter’s owners Suning according to a report in today’s paper edition of Tuttosport.

Conte would like a top quality midfielder and progression in the Champions League to the first knockout stage would earn Inter around €20 million.

The Nerazzurri have drawn heavy links to Barcelona’s Arturo Vidal, a player Conte has had previous success working with.

The Chilean, who is Inter’s number one target, will cost at least €40 million and Inter hope to be able to use funds raised through the expected circa €22 million sale of Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa and the Champions League money to land the 32-year-old.

Vidal’s signing would certainly lead to Inter’s quality increasing but if they cannot get him, Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic is a low cost option who they could get instead.
