Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta is already rubbing his hands at the thought of receiving €70 million for Mauro Icardi according to a report in today’s paper edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.
Icardi departed Inter for Paris Saint Germain on a season long loan basis on transfer deadline day of the Summer transfer window with the French capital club having an option to sign him permanently for a sum of €70 million at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old, who left Inter under acrimonious circumstances, has got life in Paris off to a great start with him having scored seven goals in as many games across all competitions – including a brace in their most recent match, a 4-0 rout of rivals Marseille.
Marotta knows receiving €70 million would have a big impact on Inter’s Summer transfer market ambitions with the funds raised through Icardi’s presumed sale likely to help them well on their way to securing some of their targets.
