Roma are attempting to offload Cengiz Ünder during this window to enable them to go in for Inter winger Matteo Politano according to a report in today’s print edition of Milanese newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 22-year-old Turkish international has struggled to cement a spot in Paulo Fonseca’s side and has been limited to just four starts and 10 appearances overall over the course of the season for a total of just under 400 minutes on the field.
Ünder is understood to have interest in his services from Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich and Everton and Roma will use money raised through his sale to fund a move for Politano, who has slid down the pecking order this season at Inter.
The 26-year-old, much like Under actually, has failed to force his way into the team and has made just two starts all season.
As per the report, Inter would be willing to loan him out for the remainder of the season with a €20 million purchase option or obligation attached.
