Barcelona are confident that they can close out a deal for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez in the first weeks of August, despite the Nerazzurri’s attempts to keep the 22-year-old, according to a report from Catalan newspaper Sport earlier today.
The report details how the Blaugrana are incredibly keen to sign the Argentine striker, but failed to pay his €111 million release clause earlier this month.
Despite that, the club are confident that they can secure a deal for him this summer, especially after reaching a personal agreement with the player, who wants to join the Catalan club.
Inter are trying to reach an agreement with Lautaro regarding a new contract, the report continues, although Barcelona think this is only a last attempt to convince the player to stay, instead of accepting Barcelona’s more lucrative offer.
Inter are continuing to ask for €111 million but the Blaugrana are only willing to invest €65 million, and remain confident.
