Italian Media Report Highlights Romelu Lukaku Already Inter’s 4th Best Goalscorer In Past 40 Years

Romelu Lukaku is Inter’s fourth best goalscorer in a single season since 1980 a report in yesterday’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport highlights.

With his brace in this past weekend’s triumph over Genoa, Lukaku took his tally for the campaign to 29 goals across all competitions to date, a personal best for him, as the brace allowed him to exceed his previous best of 27 goals scored in a single season.

He has scored more goals in a single season than the likes of Christian Vieri, Adriano, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and more recently Mauro Icardi.

In the last 40 years, only Diego Milito, Ronaldo and Samuel Eto’o have scored more in a single season than Lukaku has.

Milito struck 30 goals during Inter’s treble winning season, Ronaldo scored 34 in his debut season at Inter whilst Eto’o scored 37 goals in the 2010/11 season.

With at least three games left to play, Lukaku is in with a chance of matching and perhaps even exceeding Milito’s tally. Should Inter progress in the Europa League, the Belgian could then get closer to the tallies of both Ronaldo and Eto’o.
