Romelu Lukaku: “I’ve Dreamed Of Playing For Inter Since I Was A Child, My Job Is To Score Goals”

Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has insisted that Inter must finish the remainder of the 2019/20 Serie A season in the right manner ahead of Inter’s clash with Napoli.

“In the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi final against them we did well, but we made too many mistakes. This is another important match, we must finish this season in the right way. I hope to win,” he explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV shortly before kick-off at San Siro.

He proceeded to go on and discuss what he is expecting from this encounter with the Partenopei, who Inter have already faced off against three times this season.

“What do I expect? Gattuso is a coach who motivates his boys well, they are a team that always play to win, so I think it will be a great challenge.”

In conclusion the Belgian national team player spoke on what it means to him to play for the club and what the ultimate goal is.

“Playing for Inter is a dream that I had since childhood, I will always do the best for the team. My job is to score, but the main objective is to win titles.”

Moments later he spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia and he added: “I’m thinking of winning matches, I’m here at Inter to win titles. I’m doing well, but I know that I have to grow and do much more.

“Next year I hope we can be more ready to win. We want to grow every year, this is my mentality and that of the coach. We know we have quality and we must do better than this year.”

This season the 27-year-old has made 45 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, which totals just under 3600 minutes, he has scored 29 goals and provided a total of five assists for his teammates.

Lukaku joined Inter in a club record €65 million transfer deal from Premier League club Manchester United this past Summer and one more goal this season would see him become just the fourth Inter player in the past 30 years to score 30 goals in a single season.
