Italian Media Report Inter Owners Suning Studying Costs Of Signing Barcelona’s Lionel Messi

Inter’s owners Suning are studying the costs that would be involved in a deal to bring Barcelona’s Lionel Messi to the club according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The economic terms of a deal could follow those that led to Cristiano Ronaldo joining Juventus from Real Madrid and Suning are evaluating the economic impact for sponsors who are interested, and there is no lack of interested sponsors.

In short, the idea of Messi to Inter exists and is concrete. Barcelona have moved to deny the rumours whilst Messi himself is yet to express his desire with regard to his future.

Messi’s contract with Barcelona is due to expire at the end of the coming season meaning he could leave for free which is key for Inter and their chances of signing him.

The report also explains that Messi’s father has completed the process that will enable Messi’s father to get Italian citizenship. After purchasing property on via Joe Colombo, the report insists Jorge Messi is bringing his son to Inter.

The Italian tax laws could help Inter out when it comes to affording Messi. In Italy there is a ceiling of €100,000 to tax profits from abroad and the new Italian tax laws also grant players arriving a 50% tax relief on wages on those who move to Italy from abroad.

Those who obtain this benefit, however, are not entitled to the “discount” on tax profit ceiling already mentioned. In any case, any agreement with the tax authorities can really act as a trailblazer for Messi. In any case a deal with the treasury department could really work as a door opener to bring Messi to Inter, the report concludes.
