Inter president Steven Zhang plays an important role in the future of coach Antonio Conte, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Corriere della Sera.
The report details how the 51-year-old Italian coach was incredibly disappointed with the 3-2 loss to Sevilla in the Europa League finals yesterday and alluded to an early departure from the club in post-match interviews, saying: “We’ll try to plan the future of Inter with or without me.” He will meet with President Zhang next week, as well as CEO Beppe Marotta, to discuss transfer market objectives and his future.
Due to Conte’s strained relationship with the executives at the club, Zhang has been called in to deal with the situation directly, the report continues. Losing Conte would be a blow for the Nerazzurri after only one year, especially considering that his dismissal would cost the Milanese club around €20 million net.
