Inter President Steven Zhang: “We Have To Learn From This Europa League Defeat & Improve”

Inter president Steven Zhang commented on the Nerazzurri’s 3-2 defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League finals yesterday on social media earlier today, with his words being noted by Italian media outlet FcInter1908.it.

“Defeat in the final is a lesson to be learned by the president of a great team. I always start from scratch, we all have to improve. Getting up after falling and looking ahead, life becomes perfect as you go through defeats.”

Yesterday’s defeat to Europa League experts Sevilla capped off a disappointing season with a bitter end, especially for Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku. The 27-year-old shined in his first season in Milan after signing from Manchester United last summer and was the hero of coach Antonio Conte’s team throughout the season. Lukaku scored 34 goals and provided six assists in 51 appearances this season, but the last goal he scored this season was the own goal that led to Inter’s defeat in the final.

The future of Conte is currently unclear, especially after comments he made yesterday after the game alluding to an early departure from the Nerazzurri. He will meet with president Steven Zhang next week to discuss his future.
