The future of Italian full back Matteo Darmian is currently unclear, after the player signed for Parma last summer on the assumption that he would be moving to Inter this summer, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
The report details how the 30-year-old Italian signed for the Emilian club last summer from Manchester United, with there being a guarantee in place that he would join Inter at the end of the season. However, the Nerazzurri now have no interest in acquiring the player, instead preferring to focus on other ideas.
The two clubs will meet soon to discuss the situation, the report continues. Contracted to Parma until 2023, Darmian made 34 appearances across all competitions last season for the Emilian side, for a total of 2685 minutes. In that time, he scored one goal and provided one assist. Inter have already signed Achraf Hakimi for the right wing back role and are looking for a more experienced winner in their left wing back role.
