After many years without one, Inter will soon have a set-piece specialist at the club with Aleksandar Kolarov set to arrive from Roma a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport explains.
Inter and Roma have agreed a fee believed to be in the region of €1.5 million including bonuses for the veteran Serbian national team defender, who has agreed a one year with option to a second year contract with Inter with an annual salary of around €3 million.
Kolarov will become the first true set-piece specialist that Inter have had since Wesley Sneijder, who left the club almost a decade ago now and will join the likes of Alvaro Recoba, Sinisa Mihajlovic, Adriano, Ruben Sosa and Mario Corso as being a set-piece specialist to have played for the Nerazzurri.
Kolarov’s set-piece ability, his personality and his versatility are all qualities that convinced Inter and manager Antonio Conte to sign him.
The report highlights that Inter’s last free kick scored came back in April 2018 via Joao Cancelo. The Portuguese defender’s cross into the box from distance caught everyone out and ended up in the net.
