Inter are slowing down in their pursuit of Arturo Vidal according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Many reports have stated that the Chilean national team player will secure his release from Barcelona today and he will join Inter but Inter are slowing down for two reasons.

The first reason is Inter’s need to reduce the squad which is currently overcrowded. Diego Godin, Andrea Ranocchia, Dalbert, Joao Mario and Marcelo Brozovic are all players who could leave the club.

The second reason is due to Inter needing to trim their wage bill given they would be taking on a big salary of €6 million a year by signing Vidal, who they have agreed a two year deal with an option to a third year with.

Despite these two reasons, the report from the Milan based news outlet explains that the final outcome is not in question and the 32-year-old will become an Inter player.
