Inter coach Antonio Conte is likely to deploy new arrival Arturo Vidal as a substitute in tonight’s season opener against Fiorentina, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.
The report details how the 33-year-old Chilean midfielder officially signed for the Milanese club earlier this week, joining in a deal worth around €1 million plus add-ons from Barcelona.
Vidal has experience playing under coach Antonio Conte, with the duo knowing each other from their time together at Juventus.
It is unlikely that the 33-year-old will start against Fiorentina this evening, the report continues, but could appear as a substitute, given that the 51-year-old Italian believes him to already be ready.
Vidal made 43 appearances across all competitions last season for Barcelona, for a total of 2245 minutes. In that time, he scored eight goals and provided three assists. He was one of many players sold by Barcelona to reduce their wage bill.
