Inter have renewed hope of signing Marcos Alonso from Chelsea after the defender fell out with Blues boss Frank Lampard, according to this morning’s print edition of Corriere della Sera.
Antonio Conte is an admirer of the Spaniard after coaching him for two seasons in west London, having brought Alonso to Chelsea from Fiorentina in the summer of 2016.
Alonso seemed to be out of reach for Inter until Lampard left the 29-year-old out of his squad for last night’s Carabao Cup tie away to Tottenham.
Conte remains hopeful of a deal for both Alonso and his team-mate Ngolo Kante before the transfer window shuts on Monday.
Alonso has made 152 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea during his four seasons in the Premier League, scoring 22 goals and providing 18 assists.
Inter are back in action this evening as they travel to play Benevento for their second match of the new Serie A season.
Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez are both expected to start at the Stadio Ciro Vigorito, having been left on the bench for Saturday’s opener against Fiorentina at San Siro.
