Genoa remain hopeful they will secure a deal to sign Andrea Ranocchia from Inter before Monday’s transfer deadline, according to Wednesday’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.
Ranocchia seemed certain to rejoin the Rossoblu this week after agreeing personal terms, but Inter have put the move on hold so they can have him available for tonight’s Serie A match against Benevento.
Genoa believe it is only a matter of time before the Nerazzurri give the green light for the deal to go through.
But Inter have yet to make a final decision on their defensive options this season, with only five days left for transfers to be completed.
Ranocchia has made 207 appearances in all competitions for the club since leaving Genoa in 2011, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists.
He featured in just seven league games last season as Antonio Conte secured a second-place finish in Serie A behind champions Juventus.
