Italian Media Analyse How Inter’s Midfield Changed For The Worse When Arturo Vidal Was Tired

Inter’s midfield changed in yesterday’s match away to Lazio when new recruit Arturo Vidal got tired according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Chilean national team player formed the midfield alongside Nicolo Barella and Roberto Gagliardini and Vidal started the match as an attacking midfielder in a 3-4-1-2 system.

As Vidal tired, he and Barella, who was playing centrally swapped roles, but this report states that at this point Inter should have brought on either Stefano Sensi or Christian Eriksen to play in the attacking midfield role rather than play Barella there even if Barella is capable of doing so.

Sensi did eventually come onto the pitch in place of Roberto Gagliardini but wasted his opportunity to impress as he was stupidly sent off near the end of the match.

Eriksen, who is one of the club’s highest earners, on the other hand remained on the bench for the entirety of the match even though Inter used all five subsitutes available to them
