Inter will open contract renewal talks with central defender Stefan de Vrij’s agent next month according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.
Inter are due to meet with de Vrij’s agent Mino Raiola and a contract renewal for the Dutch national team player has been on the agenda for some time.
de Vrij is currently under contract with Inter until 2023 and he earns €3.6 million a year. Inter want recognise de Vrij’s good performances by renewing his contract to 2024 or 2025 and give him a salary raise to around €5 million, even if Raiola will try to obtain the maximum for his client.
de Vrij joined Inter in the Summer of 2017 on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with fellow Serie A side Lazio at the end of the previous season.
Since joining Inter, the 28-year-old, who was named the best defender in Serie A last season, has made 84 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored six goals and tallied as many assists.
