Inter attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen has shared his belief that he and his Danish national teammates were deserving winners over Iceland in their recent UEFA Nations League clash.
Kasper Hjulmand’s side ran out 3-0 winners away to Iceland at the Laugardalsvöllur stadium in Reykjavik and Eriksen got himself on the score sheet with him scoring their second goal of the game in the 46th minute.
“I think the win against Iceland was quite deserved. Maybe we were lucky in the first half, but I think we clearly have created more, so I really think we won with merit,” Eriksen explained to Danish news outlet bold.dk.
The former Tottenham Hotspur player, who joined Inter in a circa €20 million deal back in the most recent January transfer window, then looked ahead to Denmark’s upcoming match against England which will be played at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday night.
“I think we will come into this match with a little more energy than we did in the first match. It was a pre-season match for both countries, so it was tough conditions.
“Now it will be more of a real football match. We can take a lot of things with us from the first match, because they will probably play in much the same way. We have our game plan that gets better game by game.”
Since joining Inter, Eriksen has made 28 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored four goals and tallied three assists. This season Eriksen has made two appearances but he was unable to make any goal contributions in his time on the park.
