Aleksandar Kolarov has been the least successful of Inter’s Summer transfer acquisitions so far according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Serbian national team player has made three appearances across all competitions to date this term but has hardly been convincing and was undoubtedly one of Inter’s worst players in this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina defeat to AC Milan.
The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to explain that those who say that Kolarov is playing out of position are wrong as he has not played as a wing-back for some time, so it is not Conte’s initiative to play him in a back three.
The defensive aspect has never been his strong point, even when he was running up and down in the Premier League. What remains to be seen is if in the long run they can earn something from him from set pieces and to make up for what they lose in him not being able to mark properly.
Kolarov joined Inter for a nominal fee from Roma during the Summer transfer window and in his 270 minutes on the field for the club to date, he has failed to make any goal contributions at all.
