Lautaro Martinez could be decisive in Inter making it to the Champions League knockout stages for the first time since the 2011/12 edition of the competition according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
In order to qualify, Inter cannot afford to slip up on match day one of the group stage like they did last term when they drew at home to Slavia Prague.
They will face Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach tomorrow at San Siro and it is necessary for Antonio Conte’s men to get off to the best possible start if they wish to avoid a third consecutive Champions League group stage exit.
Lautaro impressed with his performances in last year’s edition of the Champions League, in which he got far more playing time than he did in the edition before that.
The extra experience that he has accumulated playing in European competition will be very useful to Inter, if not decisive.
