Inter are relying on Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez to be the protagonist against Parma today, after an injury has ruled out Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.
The report details how the 27-year-old former Manchester United and Everton forward has suffered from a slight muscle problem, forcing him to miss today’s game. A big loss for coach Antonio Conte, considering Lukaku has scored seven goals in seven games so far this season.
The 51-year-old Italian coach has decided to start Croatian forward Ivan Perisic alongside Lautaro up front, with 21-year-old Italian Andrea Pinamonti remaining on the bench.
The Nerazzurri are hoping that Lautaro can overcome his recent dip in form to lead the club to a strong three points, needed after another disappointing Champions League draw against Shakhtar Donetsk earlier in the week.
Lautaro’s last goal came against Lazio at the start of this month.
