Inter Midfielder Christian Eriksen To Be Benched For The Third Game In A Row, Italian Media Note

Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen will be benched for the third game in a row, as he won’t be starting against Torino today, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the 28-year-old Danish midfielder, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2024, is clearly on the fringes of coach Antonio Conte’s project in Milan now, made evident in yesterday’s pre-match press conference.

Conte highlighted how the former Tottenham man has been given many chances to impress, more than some others, and couldn’t play in a deeper, more defensive role.

Eriksen now seems set to be sold in January, and so will not be starting for the third game in a row.

The 51-year-old Italian coach is rotating the squad a little ahead of next week’s game against Real Madrid, with Andrea Ranocchia, Danilo D’Ambrosio and Alexis Sanchez all set to start today.

Probable Inter (3-4-1-2): Samir Handanovic; Danilo D’Ambrosio, Andrea Ranocchia, Alessandro Bastoni; Achraf Hakimi, Roberto Gagliardini, Arturo Vidal, Ashley Young; Nicolo Barella; Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez.
