Inter manager Antonio Conte has admitted that his team will need to play a great match if they hope to be successful against Borussia Monchengladbach in the UEFA Champion League tomorrow night.
“Borussia are a very good team, I think we will have to be good at playing the game by showing great compactness, intensity and determination,” he began an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, which was broadcast a short time ago.
The former Juventus and Italian national team boss went on to recall the reverse fixture between the two sides which was each sides first group stage match this campaign which ended 2-2 at San Siro.
“In the first leg they deserved much more than what they achieved, but we know we are facing a very good team. At the same time we will have to play a great match.”
He was then asked about this past weekend’s 3-0 triumph over Sassuolo in Serie A and whether the match could represent a turning point in a season that has not went as well as expected for his side.
“It was a match played in the right way, it is a match on the path. Nothing more.”
Inter head into Inter’s match tomorrow at Borussia Park knowing that they have to win if they wish to stand any chance of making it through to the next stage of the competition and avoid a third successive group stage exit.
