Italian Journalist Luca Marchetti: “Very Likely Christian Eriksen Leaves Inter In January”

Italian journalist Luca Marchetti discussed Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen and a potential departure in January whilst speaking to Italian radio broadcaster Radio Deejay earlier today.

“It is very likely he will leave in January, it is clear that after a year he has not integrated. Inter will look for an exchange to keep up the value of the player, but also a loan is a possibility since now there is not much money in circulation.

“If the player does well elsewhere, this way the Nerazzurri will also earn money.”

The 28-year-old Eriksen, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2024, has not adapted to coach Antonio Conte’s tactical system since joining from Premier League side Tottenham earlier this year in January, in a deal worth €20 million.

Almost a year later and the Dane seems destined to leave, with Conte no longer willing to work extra hard to help the player adapt.

Eriksen has made nine appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 310 minutes. In the last six games, he has only played nine minutes, showing how on the fringes of the project he currently is.

Inter were also unhappy that Eriksen publicly complained about his lack of playing time twice to the media this season during the two international breaks, further diminishing his stock in Milan.
