Inter Midfielder Roberto Gagliardini: “There’s Great Bitterness, Unfortunately We’re Out Of The Champions League”

Inter central midfielder Roberto Gagliardini has revealed that there is a real sense of bitterness after he and his teammates were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League at the group stage after a goalless draw against Shakhtar Donetsk.

“There is great bitterness, unfortunately we are out of the Champions League,” he explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV following the match against the Ukrainian powerhouses at San Siro.

The Italian national team representative then went on to discuss what teams have been doing against Inter in the time that Antonio Conte has been in charge and how it is both a good and a bad thing for the team.

“Since Conte arrived, many teams have feared us and change their system. They wait for us. This is certainly a source of pride, it means that we are a team to be afraid of but then of course they also make our life more difficult because it is more difficult to find spaces to score.”

The former Atalanta player, who joined Inter in 2017 and is under contract with the club until 2023, then looked ahead to this weekend’s league match away to Cagliari and admitted that he and his teammates want to continue their recent good domestic form.

“Now we must immediately think about Cagliari, we have had three important victories in the league in a row and we want to continue like this.”

This season the 26-year-old has made 11 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored two goals and provided two assists.
