Inter and Napoli will face off against one another for the fifth time in this calendar year tonight a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera has highlighted.
The two sides head into this match sitting side by side in the Serie A table after 11 games played. Inter are in second place with 24 points to their name and Napoli are directly below them in third place with 23 points.
Both clubs are in the hunt to take AC Milan off of top spot and are closely followed by Juventus, who have won the last nine Serie A titles.
The report goes on to state that whilst Inter boss Antonio Conte downplayed the idea of Inter being obliged to win the Serie A title, it is clear that that is what the goal is for Inter this season and to win, they must win head-to-head clashes with other big sides, matches which they have often failed to perform in.
A win could give Inter a further boost as it would be their fifth straight win in league action. It is time for Inter to show up in head-to-head clashes whilst tonight’s match will be a chance for Napoli to recover in such matches after defeat to AC Milan and a heavy defeat to Juventus.
The report concludes that this match will let Inter know how far they can go whilst it will allow Napoli to understand who they really are.
