Italian journalist Niccolò Ceccarini discussed Inter’s possible work in the upcoming January transfer window in an editorial for Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb earlier today.
“January but also June, in the sense that in these months some clubs will also plan work for the future. This is the case of Inter, who are thinking about how to further strengthen its squad. The Nerazzurri are looking decisively at Udinese, where the prized pieces are certainly not lacking.
“And at the top of the list the two names are those of Musso and De Paul. Both are doing very well and Inter would be willing to sign them. It is clear that in order to make such an investment, they will need to sell.
“Udinese are a club that does not give discounts, they value them a lot and therefore this will be a big problem.
“The certainty remains that from a technical point of view Musso and De Paul are considered two players to make Inter even more competitive and for this reason the team are planning the strategy to attempt the assault. Time is not lacking.”
He then commented on the situation surrounding Atalanta forward Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez, who has suffered a complete relationship breakdown with coach Gian Piero Gasperini and now seems destined to leave the Bergamo based club.
“Who will make talk a lot in the coming weeks is undoubtedly Papu Gomez. The farewell is very close and many have begun to test the ground to understand the feasibility of the operation and the willingness of the player.
“Juventus in this moment are not in the running as Fabio Paratici has also made clear. The Argentine striker would not want to move away from Bergamo and the idea of Milan or Inter could be the right one.
“It is more difficult today to think about a foreign destination, at the moment Paris Saint Germain and Atletico Madrid with his former coach Simeone remain the two suggestions.”
Inter are looking to overhaul the squad a little in January, with five players set to be sold or sent away in order to streamline the squad.
These players are Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen, Belgian Radja Nainggolan, Uruguayan Matias Vecino, Croatian winger Ivan Perisic and Italian forward Andrea Pinamonti.
Coach Antonio Conte wants three positions to be strengthened, namely a backup forward, a new left wing back and a new midfielder.
The Milanese club are currently second in the Serie A table after 12 games, sitting on 27 points, one behind rivals and league leaders AC Milan.
Inter’s next game is against newly promoted Spezia tomorrow.
