Inter have not managed to end the calendar year in first place but Inter have shown themselves to be very solid nevertheless according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
Inter went top of the table after their 2-1 win away to Hellas Verona, which was their seventh league win in a row but their time at the top was short lived as AC Milan managed to win against Lazio, which took place after Inter’s game in Verona.
As things stand, Inter are sitting on 33 points after 14 games, one point behind AC Milan. Inter have a six point gap on third placed Roma and whilst far from an unbridgeable distance, the report states that it is psychologically reassuring for Inter and less so for those trying to catch them.
Inter will now focus on the transfer window and have one priority, offloading Christian Eriksen. Depending on how much Inter manage to offload Eriksen for, they could bring in more suitable options for Inter coach Antonio Conte to choose from.
