Inter Midfielder Arturo Vidal: “I Feel That It’s My Goal To Win The Scudetto This Season”

Inter midfielder Arturo Vidal discussed the Nerazzurri’s season so far, their goals, rivals Juventus and more in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia earlier today.

“It’s difficult, but at Inter this is a new project. With young players who are hungry to win something. It’s sad to be out of the Champions League but we still have two important competitions and we have to do our best.”

The 32-year-old Chilean was not afraid to talk about the league title.

“Yes of course, I’m not afraid to say it. I have won the Scudetto many times here, in Germany or in Spain. I feel that this is my goal. We have to work every day, think game by game and then we’ll see if we’re up to the task of thinking about the Scudetto.”

He spoke about his time with rivals Juventus, where he spent four seasons.

“I spent four years at Juventus, it was good. For a week they talked about them, now I look at the future and the desire to do something new in Italy.

“I’ve never had any contact with Juventus, with the coach we talked not only about coming here to Inter but in general, to be together. Now I had the chance and I said ‘yes, I want to be with you’ and I want to do my best to win together again.”

The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona player highlighted how the Nerazzurri fans haven’t seen the true Vidal just yet.

“It’s true, we haven’t seen anything yet. I did what the coach asked me to do to help the team mature. We’re still missing the real Vidal that they know in Italy.”

Vidal touched on some of the best and worst moments in his first few months with the Nerazzurri.

“The hardest moment was the elimination from the Champions League, for me it is a dream to win it. I’m very sad about that, but there are still two goals, we have to do our best.

“Inter were close to winning last year, but something was missing, now we have to make fewer mistakes.”

He spoke about the toughest opponents in the title race.

“Juve, they have a strong team and confidence, they’ve been winning for nine years, they have everything to be the strongest team. But we are confident.”

The 32-year-old Chilean discussed Nerazzurri coach Antonio Conte.

“I work as much with the coach as I did when I was at Juve, I had forgotten that at Bayern and Barcelona. I really enjoyed coming back to him. He was calmer in Turin, here he gives his all.”

He discussed his role in the Inter squad.

“At Juve I played further forward, I had more chances to score goals. Today I play differently.”

Vidal commented on the hard work by Inter to sign him from Barcelona.

“They did everything they could to bring me here, but it wasn’t the right time before. I have a good relationship with the coach, now I’m here and I want to give my best. The real Vidal will be back, I needed to work a bit to reach 100%.”

He touched on what he likes most about the Nerazzurri.

“The people here are so hungry like me, they are young guys who want to prove they are strong.”

Finally, Vidal spoke about what he needs in 2021 to be happy.

“We have to win, I want to prove that I am the real Vidal. And for my children to be happy.”
