BC Partners’ due diligence of Inter’s accounts ahead of potential investment into the club has slowed down, according to an Italian media report today.
As per Tuttosport, the private equity fund which is looking to buy into the club has asked for an additional investigation into some of the Chinese sponsorship deals signed by the Nerazzurri’s owners Suning in recent years.
It remains to be seen whether the British based fund will aim to obtain a majority stake in Inter or if it prefers to get involved in the club on a minority basis, initially.
BC Partners were expected to finish their due diligence by the end of January or start at February, at which point they would consider making an offer to Suning for shares in Inter, as per multiple reports last week.
Whether BC Partners come in or not, the report states that it is clear Inter are entering a new corporate phase of their history, with lots of changes coming in the next few months.
Inter are due to go through a rebrand, including a change to their logo, and in addition to this, their long-term main shirt sponsor Pirelli will be replaced.
The Turin-based news outlet noted that the Nerazzurri also have the issue of their new stadium project to address as well.
