Antonio Conte deserves praise for isolating Inter’s players from the off-field issues surrounding the Nerazzurri at present, one Italian media report has argued today.
FCInter1908.it suggest that Conte, who is quick to be criticised by supporters and the press, should be applauded for what he has done with the team during a complicated situation at Inter that is certainly not easy for anyone.
Conte is said to have created an isolation bubble of sorts and the hope is that this bubble will be able to resist the external pressure, at least until the end of this season.
Inter produced arguably their best performance of Conte’s entire 18-month tenure on Sunday, defeating Juventus 2-0 in the Derby d’Italia after a week of intense speculation regarding the future of the club.
The Nerazzurri are currently going through a period of economic hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic and newly-imposed Chinese government restrictions, which have impacted owners Suning and the extent to which they can invest.
Suning are therefore widely reported to be in talks with private equity fund BC Partners over buying into the club, although the British investment firm may make an offer to buy Inter outright.
Inter nonetheless sit second in the Serie A standings after 18 games, three points behind leaders AC Milan, having won 10 of their last 12 games in all competitions.
