Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella’s fine season has seen him break into the top five leading assist makers in the major European leagues.
The former Cagliari star has enjoyed a magnificent campaign and netted a curling effort in the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 win over Fiorentina on Friday, sending Inter top ahead of AC Milan’s match against Crotone today.
However, it is not just his goalscoring ability that has caught the eye, with Barella’s ability to set up teammates for goals seeing him enter the list of the 10 best in Europe this term, according to PassioneInter.com.
Indeed, the 24-year-old’s 10 assists in all competitions finds him fourth in the rankings across Europe, as he trails leader Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City on 15.
No other player in Italy has laid on more goals than Barella, with Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich and Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United making up the top three, on 13 and 12 respectively.
Leicester City star James Maddison and Henrikh Mkhytarian of Roma equal Barella but in more appearances.
The list is rounded off by AC Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu, Frankfurt’s Daichi Kamara and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Nadiem Amiri all on nine, and RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo with eight.
