Having netted twice in Inter’s 3-0 victory over AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina today, striker Lautaro Martinez praised the spirit within the squad.
The Argentina international struck early in the match at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza before claiming a second after the break, whilst fellow forward Romelu Lukaku completed the rout.
In an interview with television broadcaster DAZN after the final whistle, Martinez insisted that it was the team spirit that was at the core of Inter’s success, as the Nerazzurri moved four points clear at the top of the Serie A table.
“We are united and as a team we work hard every day to give our all and take Inter as far as possible. We are very happy,” the former Racing Club striker declared.
“We all fight together and you can see this on the pitch. We suffered a lot over the season, with eliminations from the Cups. The league is our last remaining target and we are happy to be here.”
Martinez combined with Lukaku up front to devastating effect and was full of praise for the Belgium international, insisting that he could continue to improve.
“He is 27-years-old, he is young and can keep improving. He always makes himself available to his teammates and works hard. We are happy to have him with us,” Martinez concluded.
Inter look to maintain their challenge for a first Scudetto since 2010 when they take on Genoa at home next Sunday.
