Samir Handanovic Will Remain Inter’s Starting Goalkeeper Next Season, Italian Media Claim

Samir Handanovic is certain to remain Inter’s number one goalkeeper for next season, according to an Italian media report today.

As per Corriere dello Sport’s print edition, Inter are looking for a long-term replacement for the ageing Slovenian but such a player is not easy to find.

Handanovic has served Inter for nine years and is now getting close to achieving what he came to Inter for, to win silverware, with Antonio Conte’s side sitting at the top of the Serie A table.

Winning the Scudetto with the Nerazzurri would be a just reward for Handanovic, the Rome-based paper argued, after sticking by Inter through their worst years and performing as one of their best players throughout.

Barcelona and Manchester City have come in for the Slovenian in previous transfer windows, the report continued, but Handanovic has always remained with Inter and is now hoping his decision will bear fruit.

The former Udinese player was among the most criticised early on in the season and has made several costly mistakes, but in recent weeks he has turned things around and appeared like his old self again.
