Inter have turned San Siro back into a fortress despite the empty stands, as highlighted by a report in the Italian media today.
As per La Repubblica’s print edition, Sunday’s 3-0 win over Genoa meant the Nerazzurri had won their last nine home games in Serie A, something they have not achieved since way back in 2011.
Antonio Conte’s side have also hit 60 league goals this season, which has not happened after 24 games since the 1950-51 campaign when Italy’s top flight was a far more attacking place.
The report also argued Inter had a great chance now to build on their sparkling form, with winnable games against Parma, Torino and Sassuolo – as well as a tough match at home to Atalanta – on the horizon before March’s international break.
Inter have won six of their last seven matches in Serie A, the paper highlighted, scoring 17 goals and conceding just once.
Conte is benefiting from having his entire squad available, bar Stefano Sensi, whereas Inter’s title rivals Juventus and AC Milan are dealing with several important defections.
