Inter are sweating over the fitness of midfielder Christian Eriksen, with the Denmark international not expected to start tomorrow’s Serie A match against Torino.
The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has cemented a regular starting position in Antonio Conte’s side after strong form since the turn of the year, and started five consecutive matches prior to a substitute appearance in Monday’s 1-0 win over Atalanta.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Eriksen complained of pain and inflammation in his knee during the week and after training separately from the rest of the squad, is likely to only be fit for a place on the bench.
Eriksen is set to be replaced in the starting line-up by Italy international Roberto Gagliardini rather than Stefano Sensi or Matias Vecino, with Conte unwilling to risk aggravating the 29-year-old’s injury.
Inter will also be without fellow midfielder Arturo Vidal after the Chilean underwent knee surgery, although defender Aleksandar Kolarov could be in line for a return to the squad.
