The influence of Inter coach Antonio Conte has been a decisive factor in the development of Nerazzurri wing-back Achraf Hakimi, Italian media claim.

Hakimi joined Inter from Spanish champions Real Madrid last summer in a €40 million deal, having spent the previous two seasons on loan at Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund, and has scored six goals in 33 appearances.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, Hakimi has been a key figure in Inter’s rise to the top of the Serie A table with his form since the turn of the year highlighted.

The Moroccan netted in a 2-2 draw against Roma in January before laying on an assist in a 2-0 win over Fiorentina the following week, as the Nerazzurri began their ascent to move six points clear.

Meanwhile, his understanding with fellow wing-back Ivan Perisic and central midfielder Nicolo Barella was praised, with credit for Hakimi’s improvement going to Conte’s ability to develop the 22-year-old’s tactical understanding.
