Antonio Conte might be able to silence some of his fiercest critics on the way to winning Serie A with Inter, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition pointed out that the Nerazzurri could earn themselves a secondary prize by finishing the campaign as the league’s best attack.

Inter have scored 65 goals in 27 games so far this season, with Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez and Alexis Sanchez accounting for 38 of those.

Conte would enjoy finishing with the best attack, the report suggested, given that he is often labelled a defensive coach by his detractors.

Lukaku, Lautaro and Sanchez are responsible for 58.4% of Inter’s goals in Serie A this season, making them the most prolific ‘trio’ in the league.

Inter are tied with Atalanta on 65 goals at the moment, although Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have played a game more.

Sanchez is ready to deliver a vital contribution as Inter chase the Serie A title, the Milan-based paper explained, having trained at Appiano Gentile throughout the international break.

The 32-year-old was described as ‘a lethal tactical option’ for Conte, who could make use of Sanchez’s versatility to play either as a striker or as a no. 10.

Lukaku has a good chance of adding to his goal tally for the season (19 in Serie A) if history is anything to go by, because the Belgian has scored four goals in three appearances so far against Bologna.

The Rossoblu are his second-favourite target after AC Milan, against whom Lukaku has scored in five straight derbies.
