Italian Media Suggest Andrea Ranocchia Will Replace Stefan De Vrij For Inter Against Bologna

Inter coach Antonio Conte is expected to make changes to his team for today’s Serie A match against Bologna following an outbreak of COVID-19 before the international break.

Danilo D’Ambrosio, Samir Handanovic, Stefan De Vrij and Matias Vecino all tested positive for the coronavirus and were forced into a period of isolation, whilst Inter’s match against Sassuolo on 20 March was postponed.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, this has affected Conte’s options for the trip to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, despite the quartet recovering.

Centre-back De Vrij only returned a negative test on Thursday and has had little time to train with the squad and will remain on the bench, allowing Andrea Ranocchia to step into the starting line-up.

Handanovic will retain his place in goal but Vecino will also be amongst the substitutes, whilst midfielder Arturo Vidal will return to the squad after knee surgery.

Elsewhere, Conte will be without Aleksandar Kolarov or Ivan Perisic, with Ashley Young expected to beat his former Manchester United teammate Matteo Darmian to the vacancy at left wing-back.
