Inter’s financial worries will require them to take all offers for players into consideration with nobody off the table, according to Italian journalist Luca Marchetti.
The Nerazzurri are on course to win a first Serie A title since 2010 but have been blighted by concerns off the pitch, with owners Suning facing growing debts and looking to secure investment before the end of the season.
In an interview with Italian radio station Tuttomercatoweb Radio earlier today, Marchetti suggested that despite Inter suggesting that certain players would not be sold for any price, the reality could prove to be different if the financial concerns continue to loom into the summer.
“In a historic moment that we are currently living through, when an attractive offer comes in during the transfer window it has to be considered more than before,” Marchetti claimed.
“Whether it is for Lautaro [Martinez], [Romelu] Lukaku or [Alessandro] Bastoni, any of the untouchable players, it is a concept that is true for any team. Considering an offer does not necessarily mean selling though.”
Belgium international Lukaku leads Inter’s scoring charts after hitting 19 league goals this season and has attracted interest from across Europe, despite the Nerazzurri being adamant in their intentions to keep him.
Marchetti suggested that he was set to remain at the club however, with the hope that the situation behind the scenes would be resolved.
“There are teams like Barcelona and Manchester City who are looking for a striker, but Lukaku is not the only one around. Assessing the percentages is difficult but the likelihood is that he will stay,” Marchetti continued.
“Even if the Nerazzurri’s accounts are not the best in Europe, there is confidence that they can improve.”
