Inter captain Samir Handanovic is set to extend his stay at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, with negotiations opened over a new contract.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, the 36-year-old currently has a year remaining on his existing deal but agent Fali Ramadani has been engaged in lengthy discussions with Inter over a new deal for the goalkeeper.
The contract extension will also have a wider impact on Inter’s transfer policy this summer, with the Nerazzurri now unlikely to target a new goalkeeper.
Ionut Radu returned from a loan spell at Parma last season to serve as back-up and a decision on his future will be made in the coming weeks, though Handanovic is set to continue as first choice.
Instead, Inter will focus on bringing in a left winger and a central midfielder, whilst a back-up option to striker Romelu Lukaku and reserve defenders will also be targeted.
