Inter Goalkeeper Samir Handanovic Set For New Contract As Nerazzurri Target Additions Elsewhere In Team, Italian Media Report

Inter captain Samir Handanovic is closing in a new contract as he seeks to extend his stay with the club, as the Nerazzurri opt against signing a new first choice goalkeeper.

The Slovenia international joined Inter from Udinese in 2012 but only has a year remaining on his existing deal, despite being an ever-present figure in Serie A this season.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, discussions have been ongoing for several months over a new contract for Handanovic, with his agent Fali Ramadani looking to strike a deal with Inter.

The Nerazzurri are undecided on the fate of back-up Ionut Radu, who was brought back from a loan spell at Parma but has not been utilised at all by coach Antonio Conte, though a new goalkeeper is no longer a priority for Inter.

Instead, they will focus on signing a left winger, a central midfielder and a viable alternative option to striker Romelu Lukaku, whilst also exploring the possibility of bringing a back-up central defender in.
