Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is set to be promoted to the first-choice penalty-taker at the Nerazzurri after the departure of Romelu Lukaku.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, who report that the Argentine is expected to be the main man from the spot having been second behind the Belgian the previous two seasons.

Lukaku had been an exceptionally consistent penalty-taker during his time at the Giuseppe Meazza, never missing a spot-kick, and the Nerazzurri will have to seriously consider how to make up for his loss.

The club will hope that Martinez is able to refine his technique and approach to get close to the level achieved by Lukaku, with the 23-year-old having scored six penalties in his Inter career but also missed two (against Borussia Dortmund and Bologna).

Behind Martinez, new signing Hakan Calhanoglu and fellow striker Alexis Sanchez are expected to be on penalty duty as the club look to maintain the clinical record which was in place with Lukaku.
