Inter have agreed personal terms with Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata, though they have yet to reach any agreement with his current club on a possible move.
This according to Italian news outlet la Repubblica, who report that the Colombian is in pole position to be the Nerazzurri’s next attacking arrival should they come to an agreement with Atalanta.
La Dei are asking for €40 million for the 30-year-old’s signature, and want a shorter-term deferral of payment than the Nerazzurri are asking for.
It remains to be seen if Inter can meet the Bergamo-based club’s demands, or convince them to reduce their asking price, but should they do so then they can quickly bring the player in, having an agreement on personal terms.
The Nerazzurri are aiming to have the signing of a striker wrapped up by the end of this weekend, with Lazio’s Joaquin Correa also a target and the preferred arrival of coach Simone Inzaghi.
Correa has asked the Biancocelesti to leave and could be brought in to please the new manager, but his club are asking €40 million for him, not likely to go any lower than €35 million, while the Nerazzurri have not yet shown a willingness to offer more than €26 million.
It remains to be seen who the Nerazzurri will ultimately reach an agreement for, but for now the agreement with Zapata could represent a breakthrough.
