Former Napoli coach Gianni Di Marzio believes that the signing of Denzel Dumfries represents a major acquisition for the Nerazzurri, and keeps their squad one of the strongest in Serie A.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, as reported by FCInterNews, the Italian considered the impact which the 25-year-old could have on the Nerazzurri’s title defense after his arrival from PSV.
Dumfries complete his move to Inter this weekend and is already being quickly brought up to speed as a Nerazzurri player, with the club hoping to make him a fixture on the right side of the team.
Replacing Achraf Hakimi on the right flank following the Moroccan’s sale to Paris Saint-Germain is an enormous task, but Dumfries was the club’s first-choice option to do so and could prove to be a highly impactful addition.
Di Marzio believes that Dumfries’s energy and intensity will be a major help on the pitch as the Nerazzurri look to control games through wide areas, and that with him and should they add another striker, they could defend last season’s Scudetto crown.
“The Nerazzurri, with a striker, remain at the top of the list of favourites [for the Serie A title],” he stated, “Dumfries’s purchase is important because he is a very dynamic player who eats up the right wing.”
